The Lamborghini Miura was the dawn of the supercar as we know it today; a vehicle that in the late 60s so radically changed car design its influence can still be seen in supercars of the current era. The concept is believed to be the brainchild of seven young engineers at Sant’Agata, with the design credit going to Marcello Gandini at Bertone, who was just 27 at the time.
Revolutionary design features such as the transversely mounted engine in the middle of the vehicle, doors resembling the silhouette of a raging bull and the now iconic eyelashes around the lights all contributed to the Miura’s legendary status.
Furlonger are pleased to bring a very early production Miura P400 to market, with this exquisite example being just the 23rd example produced. Chassis 3009 was supplied through the Italian dealer Monzeglio in 1967 and originally finished in the iconic combination of Rosso Miura over Nero Fintapelle which it retains to this day. Being such an early production example, #3009 displays rare features such as the lightweight steering wheel that was replaced on later cars.
Following its early life in Italy and subsequent years under French ownership, like with the vast majority of Miuras this example was exported to the USA and would spend many years in the preferable climate of the United States.
Returning the Europe, #3009 enjoyed a documentation restoration to original colour combination in the early 00s by notable French specialists. The scope of the work is too extensive to itemise in this description, but please contact for us to elaborate further on the sympathetic restoration works that were carried out. Further, the process was covered in a French specialist classic car magazine that is on file.
During the restoration, the original engine (that remains with the vehicle) was removed and replaced with a Miura S factory replacement engine that was upgraded to split-sump specification. Further sympathetic upgrades included upgraded Miura S brakes, wider Miura SV rear wheels and tyres, Miura SV specification suspension and upgraded electrics to ensure enhanced reliability.
#3009 was subsequently purchased through the French specialist that restored the vehicle in May 2014 and imported to the UK. At this point the vehicle was thoroughly inspected by a UK-based specialist and the car enjoyed a full service with any items attended to. Subsequently the Miura has been annually maintained by a renowned specialist and is ready to be enjoyed by its new custodian.
Early Lamborghini Miura P400s in such condition are extremely rare to market with this example being one of the finest available. Having been recently restored to the very highest standard and sympathetically enhanced for greater driving enjoyment yet still complete with its original engine, it represents the ideal opportunity to own the original supercar; one who’s legend will forever remain.
