The Lamborghini Murciélago was introduced in 2001 as the successor to the Diablo as the flagship model for the Sant’Agata-based manufacturer. Designed in-house, this was Lamborghinis first new design in 11 years and the first new model under the ownership of the new German parent company, VAG. With an angular design and exceptionally low body, the car sits just under 4 feet above ground, and is graced with scissor doors, following in the DNA of the Countach and Diablo.
The Murciélago boasted all-wheel drive from its release, that was used to cope with the 580 bhp from the 6.2-litre V12 engine that propelled the vehicle to 60mph in just 3.8 seconds. 3 years into production Lamborghini would release the Murciélago Roadster, an open-top version of their flagship supercar. The design of the roadster was arguably more striking, with a re-designed engine cover and exhaust outlet. The manual roof design entailed that minimal weight was added in the Roadster, ensuring that performance figures were unaffected, but with heightened driving sensations.
Chassis no. LA00740 was delivered new via Lamborghini London in July 2003 to its primary custodian, who configured the car in the typical yet unmistakeable specification of Giallo Orion over a Nero interior with Giallo stitching, the same colours it wears today. Furlonger have known this Murciélago for over 15 years, having been previously purchased, sold, and maintained by us on numerous occasions, with the current owner purchasing the car from us in 2021.
Chassis no. LA00740 is believed to be one of a handful of UK supplied right-hand drive Murciélagos produced with a manual transmission. With so few initially allocated to the UK, this unconfirmed production number has likely lowered considerably over the last two decades, with numerous cars being sold and exported to other right-hand drive countries.
This Lamborghini Murciélago’s most recent custodian took ownership of the car in 2021 and has since used it diligently in warm, dry conditions. Sparing no expense during this period, the owner has ensured that the car remained routinely maintained by Furlonger workshops. Over and above annual servicing requirements, this Murciélago has undergone extensive remedial works to ensure that even the smallest of advisories are dealt with, ensuring the smooth-running and functionality of the car. This includes the all-important overhauling of the car’s throttle bodies.
Now showing just 24,779 miles, this extraordinarily rare UK right-hand drive Lamborghini Murciélago with manual transmission poses an unmissable opportunity to those seeking a highly engaging contemporary-classic supercar. The Murciélago has continuously seen rave reviews from enthusiasts and collectors since its release and is likely to remain an astoundingly popular and collectible supercar going forward. Arguably, the open-gated transmission Murciélago represents remarkable value for money in today’s market when considered against alternatives, with extremely low production numbers, especially in right-hand drive. These cars are quickly becoming a staple of the very best collections, leading to values increasing drastically every year.
This Lamborghini Murciélago is accompanied by its original service handbook, manuals, book pack, both keys, various invoices and MOT certificates. Furlonger will conduct a comprehensive service prior to delivery.
