Ferrari F40 – EU Supplied – Classiche Certified

Furlonger are delighted to offer a fresh addition to the Ferrari F40 market with this exceptionally well-presented European-supplied example, showing a mere 10,288 kilometres (6,392 miles). A highly desirable ‘Non-Cat/Non-Adjust’ configuration, this F40 was delivered new via SA.MO.CAR. S.p.A. Italy, in July 1989 to its primary custodian, Signor L Sacchi. Chassis no. 80740 remarkably remained in Italy until it was purchased by its current keeper in 2018.

Five years after its initial delivery in 1994, this Ferrari F40 was sold to the Versace family, where it would remain in their ownership for a staggering 20 years. The car would return to SA.MO.CAR for its servicing requirements, and by 2003 it had covered just 7,720 kilometres. Chassis no. 80740 was used so diligently and conscientiously that the founder and owner of SA.MO.CAR, Vincenzo Malago purchased the F40 to form part of his personal collection in 2014.

Vincenzo Malago, much like this F40’s previous keeper, sought to cherish the car and ensure it remain presented to the highest standard during his ownership. Sparing no expense, Malago decided that such an extraordinarily low mileage F40 deserved a comprehensive restoration, therefore commissioning Ferrari Classiche at the factory to do this in 2015. The restorative works included any mechanical preparation deemed necessary. These included but were not limited to the replacement or refinishing of the engine’s ancillaries, suspension, a cosmetic refresh, and a retrim of both seats. Shortly after completion of these works in July 2015, the F40 was awarded Classiche Certification.

In August of 2015, chassis no. 80740 was returned to SA.MO.CAR and underwent a major service with additional works showing just 8,807 kilometres on the odometer. A testament to Malago’s intention of preserving the F40 having been recently restored and Classiche Certified, he covered a mere 305 kilometres in a 3-year period.

In 2018, chassis no.80740 was sold and transported to the UK with just 9,112 kilometres, leaving Italy for the first time in almost 30 years. Its purchaser, a meticulous collector of the rarest and finest low mileage hypercars and supercars had previously looked at over a dozen F40s before buying this example. The car’s presentation, ownership history, and low mileage matched the criteria he had waited for so patiently. Forming a staple piece of his elaborate collection, the F40 would once again be driven diligently in warm, dry conditions and remain in storage when not in use. Since its arrival to the UK, the F40 has seen routine maintenance every single year regardless of use, and with no expense spared. The most recent service was conducted by Furlonger at 10,283 kilometres including cambelts on 22/10/24.
