Just 3 keepers from new
Furlonger are pleased to offer this Ferrari 275 GTB/6C, 1 of just 11 U.K. right-hand drive ‘short nose’ examples with factory 6-carburettor specification. We concluded an off-market sale of this car in 2021, and at the new owner’s request conducted an extensive 2-year restoration to wit no expense was spared. Since its completion in 2023, the car has enjoyed an appropriate running-in period and formed part of an exceptional collection of sparingly used Ferraris. Presented in exceptional condition throughout, chassis no. 07597 is one of the finest 275 GTBs in the world today, one with matching numbers and recently awarded Classiche Certification.
Ferrari 275 GTB/6C chassis #07597 was ordered new via U.K. importer Maranello Concessionaires Ltd (order no: 174) for a Mr. A. B. Phillips, optioned in Rosso Cina over Nero VM8500 hide with Grigio Chiaro carpets and equipped with 6 Weber carburettors and Borrani RW3874 wheels. Originally registered with ‘300 SRE in September 1965, the car still retains this registration today.
Chassis #07597 remained with its primary keeper, Mr Philps until a Mr D. Bridges purchased the car from him in 1974, with the handwritten receipt for £2,900 still present in the car’s history file. Mr Bridges, a successful businessman and somewhat of a bachelor would frequent the 275 to his favourite London haunts, and many tours across Italy. He would build a small collection of classic Ferraris throughout his life, all of which he would own long-term and drive almost daily. Seldom does a car of this age remain with its keepers for so long, especially a Ferrari, but Mr Bridges cherished and enjoyed his cars, come rain or shine.
In 2021, Furlonger were entrusted to sell the car, to wit an off-market sale was provisionally agreed subject to inspection via our workshops. Upon inspection, it was clear that the car had been used regularly and had endured the expected wear and tear of a never-before restored 60’s Ferrari, albeit #07597 retained its original matching number engine, gearbox, chassis, and body. Typically, the 275 GTB was presented in Rosso Corsa when it arrived with us, but upon researching its original configuration it left the gates of Maranello in Rosso Cina. The 275’s purchaser, and now third keeper of the car commissioned our workshops to extensively restore #07597 to its original specification, with an emphasis on restorative works rather than replacement where applicable.
Furlonger have stripped the vehicle entirely and faithfully restored every element of #07597 to the very finest of detail. Each mechanical component has been removed, inspected, and if needed, renewed to original specifications which has been complemented by a complete bare metal respray and interior retrim. Further, we have documented the entire restoration process with many photographs and a PDF document outlining the measures taken to retain as much originality as possible, should any prospective new owner request to see them.
Chassis #07597 poses an exciting opportunity to purchase one of the rarest and most collectible configurations of the hallowed 275, one with an incredible ownership history, recent comprehensive restoration, and Classiche Certification. This 275 GTB/6C is one of finest examples in the world today and would make a fitting addition to most meticulously presented collections of rare classics, and supercars.
