Furlonger are delighted offer this UK supplied Ferrari Dino 246 GT, delivered new to the UK via S.G.M Motors in Newcastle in March of 1974. Chassis 07204 was originally purchased in Bianco over Nero Plastica and underwent a colour change and re-trim some years later.
A car synonymous within the Ferrari Owners Club Realm in the 70s – 80s. This particular Dino changed hands to a Mr Terry Murphy in 1978, a man well known for his profession of antique dealer and restorer. Mr Murphy took great pride with the Dino, entering the car into various Concourse events and shows. In 1984 the Dino took its first award at an F.O.C. Concourse which thrilled Mr Murphy.
During the preceding years Mr Murphy continued to enter national shows and events, winning numerous awards. The Dino was featured in various classic car magazines including the Super Profile Series, t.v and was even used as part of an advertisement for a car polish manufacturer. In the late 90’s Mr Murphy decided to do something other than Concourse events after he was asked by the House of Commons Motor Club to participate in a charity motor run to raise money for the BBC’s Children in Need appeal. After agreeing to the run accompanied by MP Richard Page they managed to raise £1,000. Delighted with such an outcome, Mr Murphy decided to take part the following year but this time to raise money for the St John Ambulance Brigade, this time accompanied by his daughter. All of the above is confirmed via a statement made by Mr Murphy who concludes by saying ‘’Since I became an F.O.C. member I have made many friends. No matter whether one owns a 250 GTO OR A 246 GT there is a great comradeship towards each other’’.
Mr Murphy’s long term ownership of the Dino continued well into the early 2000’s, where he would still participate in multiple charity fundraising events with the car. The Dino was also exhibited at the London Classic Motor Show in Alexandra Palace of March 1996. Various scans, articles and correspondence is present within the cars extensive history file to support all of the above.
In more recent years, the car has been serviced, maintained and checked over at a Marque Specialist with no expense spared on the Dino’s mechanical preparation. Present within the cars history files are numerous servicing invoices, receipts, MOT certificates and correspondence dating back as early as 1972.
This presents an excellent opportunity to purchase a Dino with great potential. A car that has been meticulously maintained mechanically throughout its lifetime and provides a platform for a wonderful, ready to use Dino!
