The Porsche 918 Spyder sits among a new breed of supercar known as ‘Hypercars’, the combination of already fierce combustion motors and state of the art Hybrid electric motors to deliver staggering performance. The Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1 mark the beginning of this new elite pedigree and the integration of Hybrid technology within the most prestigious and collectable road cars.
The 918 Spyder’s powerplant is a motorsport derived naturally aspirated 4.6 litre V8 that produces an already impressive 600 bhp, is coupled with two spectacularly developed electric motors that deliver an additional 282 bhp. The result of this recipe is an astonishing 882 bhp, a formidable amount of power which many journalists have described as simply unrivalled. The 918’s performance doesnt conclude here however. Despite its superiority as a Hypercar, the 918 Spyder still has the usability and comfort you would find within Porsche’s road cars. The 918 has the convenience of 3 driving modes, normal, fully electric or electric/combustion combined full bore mode. To top off this monstrous German competitor is its 7 speed PDK double clutch transmission.
Available on Porsche’s most hardcore, high performance marque’s is the Weissach package, named after where Porsche’s Research and Development is based in Germany. The Weissach package serves as a specialist option which was specified on a small percentage of the cars that left the factory. This lightweight package features Magnesium wheels, titanium chassis bolts and multiple pieces of exposed carbon fibre. The 918’s front splitter, rear wing and aerodynamic fins compliment the roof and windscreen surround.
As a descendant of the iconic Carrera GT and what most would link to some of Porsches Historic race cars, the 918 Spyder is arguably one of the closest things you can get to Le Mans level performance.
This car is in wonderful condition throughout and features full PPF applied to the whole car. 1 of 918 cars produced, this cherished low mileage example has just benefited from a full service at Porsche Reading in preparation for its next owner.
