Porsche 911 2.4T

Furlonger have recently acquired this lovely little Porsche 911 2.4 T, finished in Slate Grey black leather and houndstooth interior.

The Slate Grey Porsche 911 2.4 formerly owned by the ‘King of Cool’ Steve McQueen and featured in his film ‘Le Mans’ recently sold for $1,375,000 (£832,800) at an auction in Monterey, California – a new world record for a 911 sold at auction.

Thus is a fully ‘nut and bolt’ restored homage to the original –1972 Porsche 911 2.4T, fully restored by the well known Nick Moss at Early 911.

The 911’s shell was completely stripped of all suspension, trim, wiring and sealer. The bare metal shell was then etch primed, primed, the underside completely covered with Wurth sprayable sealer, then painted in Porsche Slate Grey. The shell was then re-assembled with all new rubbers and seals, new indicator lenses, screen trims, latches, sill trims and number plates. The door handles and rear over riders have been re-chromed.

New D’Eser replica Recaro Sports seats in black leather with black/ white houndstooth centres (just like Steve McQueen had,) the rear seats were retrimmed at the same time to match. New sound deadening, new salt and pepper carpets, new door panels, new headliner, retrimmed rear quarters and parcel shelf. All interior parts have been stripped, plated, powder coated and all plastic/rubber parts replaced. New inertia reel seat belts.

All the suspension components have been cleaned, stripped, blasted and powder coated or zinc plated. They have been assembled with new bushes, bearings, brake discs and pads, refurbished brake callipers. The 6×15 Fuchs rims have been refurbished and fitted with new N rated Pirelli P6000 195/65 tyres.

The wiring loom has been cleaned, checked, repaired where necessary and rebound, new batteries have been fitted, new heater blower fan, new fuses and bulbs throughout.

The engine has been stripped to the crankshaft and rebuilt with new cam chains and ramps and gaskets. The cylinder heads have been refurbished with new valves and guides. The exterior of the engine has been detailed. The heat exchangers are stainless steel SSIs, and a new Dansk stainless silencer has been fitted. The motor features a 70.4mm crankshaft and “S” barrels and pistons giving a capacity of 2.4 litres, much sought-after “Solex” camshafts and Weber 40 IDA carburetors.

A lovely example finished in an iconic specification ready for its new owner.
