Ferrari 430 Scuderia 16M

Furlonger have recently acquired this superb Ferrari 430 Scuderia 16M finished in the highly desirable, rare combination of Bianco Fuji over Rosso.

After the launch of their first formidable lightweight V8, the 360 Challenge Stradale in the early 2000’s, Ferrari was of course determined to produce another hard-core V8 lightweight, but this time for the F430. Dubbed the ‘Scuderia’ meaning ‘Stable’, paying homage to Ferraris prancing horse as well motor racing terms, its announcement in 2007 took the world by storm as the media and journalists frantically tried to get in the driver’s seat and experience what the Challenge Stradale’s successor was capable of. After being teased with a top speed of 199 mph and a 0-60 time under 3.6 seconds, it was evident that even before a review had taken place that Ferrari had accomplished yet another road car with a track orientated focus.

As expected, the Scuderia consisted of multiple changes and enhancements over the standard car, the most obvious being its exterior which now featured a more attractive, aggressive design. Although Ferraris looks can kill, more important was what lay underneath and made this car so special. The fundamental element was of course its engine, which featured a variety of updates to produce more power including a revised intake, exhaust and an ion-sensing knock-detection system that allows for a higher compression ratio in the engine. Coupled with engine is the impressive F1 paddle operated single clutch gearbox which is so efficient that it gives the impression of driving a car with a dual clutch system. The ‘Superfast’ gearbox is capable of shifting between gears in a mere 60ms!

To commemorate Ferrari’s 16^th victory in the Fomula 1 Constructors world championship in 2008, Ferrari unveiled the Scuderia Spider 16M at the world finals in Mugello. Based on the 430 Scuderia, the 16M offered the luxury of a soft top convertible roof found on the 430 Spider. Specially lightened front and rear bumpers (compared to the 430 Scuderia) were a further sign of the efforts Ferrari was putting into this convertible track car for the road. Unique 5-spoke forged wheels were produced for the 16M’s launch and helped to considerably reduce unsprung weight with larger front brakes and callipers added for extra stopping power (also featured on 430 Scuderia). It accelerates from 0–62 mph in 3.7 seconds, with a top speed of 196 mph.

Just 499 examples were produced worldwide, exclusively for selected Ferrari’s top clients!

The example offered here today was delivered new via Ferrari Auto Pierre Sudan of Switzerland on 16/06/2010. After being enjoyed in Switzerland for just over a year, the 16M then came to the UK in 2012 where it has remained ever since.

The 16M is accompanied by its original order form/invoice which lists the following specification: Scuderia Luggage, Yellow brake callipers, underfloor in carbon, door covers in carbon, anti-stone chipping protection, navigation system, Italian flag stripe across bodywork, chosen stitching colour. The car also features the rare option of a plaque with the signature of Jean Todt, a name synonymous within Ferrari as well as motor sport due to his previous position as the Ferrari F1 team’s principal, the company’s CEO and now the president of FIA.

The car features an excellent service history, with a stamp in the service book every single year by a Ferrari main dealer up until 2018 where it was cared for by Marque specialist DK Engineering. The car recently received a service at Dick Lovett of Swindon on 09/12/2019 at 12,236 miles.

The 16M is complete with a well-documented service history and possess a service invoice every year from new, its original service book, handbooks, leather book pack and both keys.
