Jaguar E Type Series 1

For Sale at £224,990 with 17,276

Chassis number 860052 was dispatched from Imperial Motor Mart of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, to a Mr T. F. Rimmel on December 6th 1961.

This Jaguar E-type is a genuine flat floor example coupe, it has original matching numbers, 3.8 XK engine and Moss 4 speed gear box. It has a Heritage certificate to prove build details and original colour combination of Old English white and Red leather interior.

In 1961 the launch of the New Jaguar E-type was unveiled at the Geneva motor show. The first cars were all left hand drive, the right hand drive coupes were built to supply the demands of the UK market and three of the original 100 were exported to Australia.

You had to be seriously well connected to the factory to get your hands on a right hand drive car in 1961 and this cars first owner had a very good reason to get his new E-type coupe. His name was Fred Rimell, a notorious horse trainer. Rimmel in fact trained trained the 1961 grand national winner. His son Guy married the daughter of the E-type designer and owner of Jaguar Cars Ltd Sir William Lyons. This car then went to Australia in 1966 when it was sold and the new owner relocated to Portarlington in Victoria.

The car remained in the hands of collectors until 2014 when it was shipped back to the UK.

Preserved in the Australian climate the car was rust free and in excellent order. Restored to factory original colour Old English White with red leather the car retains its correct bucket seats, aluminium dash and wood-rim steering wheel and original body shell and chassis and conforms correctly to its Jaguar heritage certificate.

A recent comprehensive restoration took place to a high standard, whilst all original parts removed remain with the car should the owner want to keep them.
This presents an opportunity to own one of the earliest flat floor examples, in its original and beautiful colour combinations in fantastic condition.

More information will be added soon.
